Picture-Word Association Cards These 9 picture/word cards of fruit go with the Ball-in-Box. A game of hide and seek will make this enjoyable. Young children under the age of five can recognize words by sight when they see them often enough. Teach children to have fun with words and you will be amazed at the speed children will pick up on recognizing words by sight. There are 3 cards with one syllable words; 3 cards with two syllables words; and 3 cards with 3 syllables words. And finally use the three period lesson. Simply state “This say, orange!” Lay out three cards. "Which one says orange?" And "What does this word say?" Clap, tap, or sing to each syllable which will also strengthen the child’s comprehension.
